Time for another recipe… yay! What better way to enjoy this fall season than with a bowl full of warm chili? Unless you are having a November like us where it has been in the 70’s this past week. Anyone else ready for some 40’s? Nope, just me? Cool.
I know I am definitely not the only one when I say I have tried sooo many chili recipes (and usually loved them all) but it was time for my husband and I to find one of our own rather than
mooching off of munching on other people’s.
Here is the recipe:
Easy Fall Chili
1 lb ground beef
1/2 white onion
1, 29 oz can of black beans
3, 15 oz cans of diced tomatoes with green chilies (we used 1 hot, 2 mild)
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp cumin
1 tsp crushed red pepper
1 tbsp cilantro spice
Salt & Pepper
Total Prep/Cook Time: About 25 minutes, 5-6 servings
First, cook and brown the ground beef in a skillet. Season with salt and pepper and add onion to cook into beef once it is browned. Then add beef/onion mixture to a large cooking pan. Drain and rinse the black beans with cold water and add to pan. Add the 3 cans of diced tomatoes with green chilies and all of the spices to the pan. Season with more salt and pepper. Bring all ingredients in pan to a boil and simmer for about 15 minutes.
That is it! Really! It is that simple and not too expensive to make. We topped our bowls of chili with cheese, sour cream and Fritos (the hubs’ idea… genius). As usual, we found the original recipe on Pinterest, but added some more spice to it to suit it to our tastes 🙂 Feel free to go as heavy or as light on the spices depending on how you like your chili to taste!
I hope you enjoy this yummy chili recipe, and that it warms up your cold fall and winter nights 🙂
